Frequently asked questions

When do I need to register for GST and QST?

Once your taxable sales are over $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive calendar quarters. Registering voluntarily, before that threshold, can also pay off.

What’s the difference between GST, QST and HST?

(5%) is federal. (9.975%) applies in Quebec. In Ontario, (13%) combines the two. In Quebec, Revenu Québec administers both GST and QST for most businesses.

What is the quick method?

A simplified method: you remit a percentage of your taxable sales instead of calculating each . It often benefits service businesses with few taxable expenses. We run the numbers before you choose.
